Healthy Trail Mix without the Nuts

no nuts gluten-free trail mix

For those of you who can’t tolerate nuts (other than your significant other) here’s a quick and easy nut-free and gluten-free trail mix…

Hey, it’s hiking weather friends!

If you’re looking for a handful of healthy quick energy to take with you, this ridiculously easy trail mix recipe makes a really satisfying nut-free version.

The roasted pepitas and sunflower seeds give this mix a nutty flavor, without the extra Omega-6 and phytic acid you might be trying to avoid with most nuts.

And even if you’re not lacing up your hiking boots, having a jar of this goodness around the house or at work is great for between-meal snacking.

If you want to make this one even healthier, just skip the dark chocolate mini-chips and go with raw cacao nibs instead. Cacao nibs are “nature’s chocolate chip” plucked right from the cacao bean and crumbled. They’re loaded with antioxidants and minerals and have a strong, dark chocolate flavor. Good stuff!

Mix this one up for your next hike, and we’ll see you at the trailhead!
