No-Nut Trail Mix

For those of you who can’t tolerate nuts (other than your significant other) here’s a quick and easy nut-free trail mix…

whole30 compliant recipe markHey it’s hiking weather friends!

If you’re looking for a handful of quick energy to take with you, this ridiculously easy trail mix recipe makes a really tasty nut-free version.

The roasted pepitas and sunflower seeds give this mix a nutty flavor, without the extra Omega-6 and phytic acid you might be trying to avoid with most nuts.

And even if you’re not lacing up your hiking boots, having a jar of this goodness around the house or at work is great for between-meal snacking.

If you want to make this one even healthier, just skip the dark chocolate mini-chips and go with raw cacao nibs instead. Cacao nibs are “nature’s chocolate chip” plucked right from the cacao bean and crumbled. They’re loaded with antioxidants and minerals, and have a strong, dark chocolate flavor. Good stuff!

So mix this one up for your next hike, and we’ll be looking for you at the trailhead!

What I really need is where you source your nut free dried fruit and seeds. We have allergies to all nuts and do not buy dried fruit because they are consistently processed with nuts.

Wendy, I get some at my local farmers market, Whole foods and Sprouts markets. I always look for organic, no sugar added and non processed. I admit, it takes a lot of looking around to find them, but they are available.
