Warm Paleo Bacon Dressing Over Spinach Salad

One of the many perks of eating paleo is enjoying bacon practically guilt-free! This easy paleo recipe for a spinach salad doused with a warm bacon dressing is guaranteed to put you in hog heaven!

This is one amazing-tasting paleo dish that’s really hard to describe just how awesome it is – but I’m going to try.

Just image the taste of hot, freshly-cooked bacon. Now add a touch of sweetness, a dab of tartness, and finally picture all these incredible flavors, all nice and warm, poured over a bright green salad with hard-boiled eggs, fresh strawberries and crumbled bacon – so is your mouth watering yet?

This incredible dish of deliciousness came about when the aroma of frying bacon drew my hubby to the kitchen. He told me he was craving a nice salad with a hot bacon dressing – something he hadn’t enjoyed in a very long time.

Great idea! Just the thought of a savory green salad drenched with warm, smokey flavors inspired me to come up with this super-easy paleo version.

Because I happened to have some awesome off-season fresh strawberries on hand, I added those to the salad to give it a little contrast and to brighten up the flavor. Fresh strawberries usually aren’t that great this time of year (winter), but these little guys were the exception, so in they went. You could also add avocados to this salad for even more healthy fat, or pecan halves if you want to give your salad a little extra crunch. For the warm bacon dressing, I cooked 6 strips of thick-sliced bacon which rendered exactly a 1/4 cup of bacon fat – perfect for two salads once I added the apple cider vinegar, honey and Dijon mustard.

Needless to say, this easy paleo recipe is already one of my hubby’s new favorites.

For all you paleo bacon lovers out there – and I know that’s just about everybody – you’re really going to love this simple and savory paleo meal. It’s one of those dishes you can use to “show off” your culinary skills in the kitchen to friends and family – how really simple this one is will be our little secret!

Enjoy!

    Hi Trina,
I made this the other night for a dinner party and it was yummy!!! What fat could I substitute for the bacon fat? I am all out and I want to make this for lunches this week.

    1. Kimberley, good question! I have only ever made it with bacon fat because the flavor is so amazing! I’ll put it out there though and ask anyone else that has an idea to let us know!

    2. Would pure Tallow, in place of bacon fat, work for this dressing? This salad is one my hubby and I would really enjoy!

      1. I’m sure it would, but not sure of the flavor profile working as well. If you try it, let me know.

  3. Aw I made a salad for dinner tonight too, could have made a nice bacon-y, mustard-y, strawberry-y one if I’d have seen this!

  6. I made this the other night for dinner following the Creative Caveman, very similar recipe. I may cut back on the bacon fat a little next time just for preference. One of my fave salads :-)

  7. I am VERY new to Paleo, but is Dejon Mustard Paleo?

    1. Yes, just watch your ingredients. Check the labels. Mine says, water, mustard seed, salt, white wine, citric acid, Tumeric and spices. Or you can make your own. But I’m too lazy. :)

  8. This looks excellent! TY

  9. This looks like a perfect idea for lunch today :)
