New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s office reports the big man has been gifted more than 600 books since taking office – many related to diet, exercise and weight loss.
Christie makes no secret about his struggles with weight – and even whipped out a jelly donut during his sit down with David Letterman in 2013 in a bit of self-depreciating humor. Days later he underwent bariatric surgery which has helped him drop some pounds.
Well-meaning authors who sent Christie books include Paleo guru Robb Wolfe, TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz, and South Beach Diet creator Dr. Arthur Agatston.
The great-great-granddaughter of Emily Post says sending the books is an etiquette faux pas, no matter how well intentioned. “There’s a reason why they’re called ‘self-help’ books,” Ms. Post said.
No word if the governor has read any of them.
